We are close to the end of the year, and with that comes the winter season. Of course, not everyone minds the snow and the cold which provide great outdoors activities like skiing and ice skating, but let’s face it, not all of us are fond of the sub-zero weather outdoors at this time. So here are a few movies for those who love nature but do not wish to spend more time in the snow than they must.
A River Runs Through It (1992)
Many of you might have already heard of or seen it, but for those who have not yet, the movie is based on Norman Macleans novella by the same name, which tells the story of two brothers growing up in the early 20th century in Montana in the United States. If you are interested in a coming-of-age story with a great dose of fly fishing and nature than this drama might be a good choice for an evening.
Into the Wild (2007)
The film is an adaptation of Jon Krakauers book of the same name. The movie is about Christopher McCandless, a university graduate, who became disenchanted with modern society and decides to set out on a journey across North America to make himself a new life in the wild. If you are up for an emotional story, this one is for you.
The Wild is a biographical adventure drama movie which is based on the memoir of Cheryl Strayed (Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail). The story is about the healing and the recovery of a personal tragedy, which takes place during a woman’s one thousand miles solo hike in the Pacific Crest Trail. For anyone who’s into self-discovery this one is a great watch.
And last but not least, the latest adaptation of Jack London’s legendary book The Call of the Wild. The story centers around Buck, a large and gentle dog who gets abducted from his home and shipped to the Yukon, where he becomes a sledge dog. It is moving tale about a new life in the wilderness. A good choice for everyone who wishes to rediscover this story again.
So here it is, our movie list for all of you who love nature but can’t handle the cold outside. Take your pick, get a cup of hot tea and have a lovely evening on your couch!
